Missoula Man Charged with Deliberate Homicide After Early Morning Stabbing; Suspect Jeremy Means Taken Into Custody

MISSOULA — The Missoula Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred early Tuesday morning. The victim succumbed to his injuries despite immediate life-saving efforts, and authorities say the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jeremy Means, is now in custody at the Missoula County Detention Facility on a charge of Deliberate Homicide.

According to the official statement from the Missoula Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North California Street just after 2:30 a.m. following reports of an adult male with stab wounds. Officers and emergency medical personnel immediately began life-saving efforts at the scene before the victim was transported to a local hospital. Means was not located at the residence. Out of an abundance of caution, a shelter-in-place was issued for the immediate area while officers conducted their operations.

Just before 1:30 p.m., a Missoula Police detective assigned to the FBI Montana Regional Violent Crimes Task Force located Means in the 800 block of Wyoming Street. Means was taken into custody without incident.

The department extended its condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time. "We recognize the impact this loss has on those who knew him, and our thoughts are with everyone affected," the statement read.
